A Message From Our President And CEO

In 2017, over 10,000 services were provided to clients by the Manatee Community Action Agency (MCAA) programs. In 2018, we remain committed to continuing our vast services and programs for the families who will need us.

Over a five-month period, the board of directors and leadership team worked to refresh the agency’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values. The team developed goals for the next three years that reflected our expansion of services, while also making a commitment to work toward addressing community needs as they relate to employment, living wage, and affordable housing.

MCAA also had the unique opportunity to merge a local not-for-profit agency in late 2016. Throughout 2017 The Center for Financial Stability increased financial independence and stability for our low-income families, which dovetailed nicely with MCAA’s evolution of providing generational economic security.

The Head Start program delivered outstanding VPK Readiness scores in all its centers, and the staff remains engaged and eager to help our children prepare academically, socially, and emotionally for kindergarten.

MCAA’s home visiting programs expanded with the development and implementation of the Teaching Our Toddlers program. The four visiting programs provide creative, quality services delivered in the home to families with children aged six-weeks to five years.

We also continued to provide emergency direct client services to residents in need of utility, rental, mortgage, and food assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and Season of Sharing funding. The Family Self-Sufficiency program not only graduated clients into the workforce, but provided the support necessary for clients to obtain careers that pay a living wage.

As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Manatee Community Action Agency’s presence in the community, we remember the milestones and reflect on our past, but are also inspired and excited by our future. We look to engage the community for their input and support of our mission while we continue our primary focus of empowering families towards long-term economic self-sufficiency.

Thank you for your support,

Barbara Patten
